Te Mana o te Taiao, the Aotearoa New Zealand Biodiversity Strategy 2020, will guide the way all of Aotearoa works to protect and restore nature. With over 4,000 species that are found nowhere else in the world, endangered or at risk of extinction, this strategy helps show the path forward so nature is thriving in Aotearoa by 2050.

Te Mana o te Taiao sets out a strategic framework for the protection, restoration and sustainable use of biodiversity, particularly indigenous biodiversity, in Aotearoa New Zealand, from 2020 to 2050. The Strategy sets out five core outcomes to ensure nature is thriving by 2050. There are three key themes; Tūāpapa - getting the system right, Whakahau - empowering action, and Tiaki me Te Whakahaumanu - protecting and restoring; with specific objectives and goals for 2025, 2030, and 2050.
